| Bio: |  Name: Hebe "Dia" Basileia Fandom: Greek Mythology Blood Status: Pure-blood Occupation: Student, Beaxbatons, 15 Prior Connections: Ryuuji Otogi (Partner-in-Crime) Basic History: If forced by her family, Hebe Basileia will claim to be the current Grecian Goddess of Youth; but she prefers not to get too specific about her family at all. She's very aware that they're all mostly more than a little bit mad. Old and traditional and very, very pure blood, her family likes to claim an ancestry that stretches back to the Gods of Olympus. They're formal enough about this claim and rigid in their belief of it that there is a certain naming pattern. Her own name, Hebe Basileia, roughly translated as Princess Flower Maiden, is due to her standing as the youngest daughter of the currently named Zeus. In her family's mind her birth name and title properly mimic those of the youngest immortal daughter of the Olympian Thunder-god. But mere naming wouldn't be enough to make Hebe quietly cringe in shame at the very thought of her family. Many old, pure blood families pick up idiosyncrasies and hers can legitimately claim to be one of the oldest in Greece. But like the Olympians of lore, the current "Olympians" are a unique brand of dysfunctional. From the moment of birth and the subsequent ranking and placement, most everyone in her family becomes involved in a struggle to change their destiny and refuse their legacy - wanting something better, something with more power, something that offers choices. There are always machinations brewing, people trying to discredit cousins and nieces and nephews so their children are closer to inheritance and the best possibilities for marriage and match-making. These are the lengths to which her family goes to preserve their (in family myth belief) superior pure blood. While the family is large with both legitimate children and bastard by blows; the latter often as calculatedly plotted as the former; the family as a whole is still incredibly small as a pool for potential mates. And there is danger in sneaking off to have an affair, far less a child with a non approved wizard or witch or worse, a Muggle. Half-blood children are an abomination within the family and often have to survive pointed attacks in order to prove they deserve to be recognized and integrated with marriage to some lesser family member. Punishments, challenges and simple rage filled magic duels have been a part of Hebe's life since almost before she was quite old enough to understand what was going on. Talks at the dinner table often revolved around surprise reveals of someone's nasty little Muggle romance, or a liaison with some married witch or wizard that was never supposed to be found out; Some of the resulting feuds of these reveals often last years. Hebe had felt above it all, to some extent and did her best to ignore things. But when she was ten her mother began talking about sending her to a magical school. Her father, loudly disagreed; no daughter of his was going off to learn foreign magic and interact with those who could be impure. Having secretly been a bit of a Daddy's Girl, despite publicly standing by her mother during her parents frequent arguments, it was a shock for Hebe to realize that while her mother saw a daughter, her father saw an asset. During the next year, Hebe did everything possible to show herself as a tomboy instead of a perfect little future wife; she fell or dropped things while serving at dinner, she mingled and played with her male cousins, she even spent time tending to her brothers; the ones her father disliked the most. With her prospects as a future bride currently ruined, it was with some relief that both her parents packed her off and sent her to school. What they never expected was that she'd continue to do things that made her unsuitable. Hebe's determined to live her own life. Personality & Traits: Hebe'll casually befriend almost anyone who's friendly back to her. She'll talk to almost anyone, smile at almost anyone and is unfailingly generous. She'll also date, at least once, near anyone who asks. She's seen the destruction and chaos that comes from believing in the importance of blood, rank and power. She wants to see what else life has to offer. And because of her past she also has no time for pure blood antics, bullying or infidelity. Since she was ten she's been happily obsessed with physicality, preferring things that are active like Herbology and Potions and Broom / Winged Horse Racing, to courses where she has to sit still and 'be good'. It's resulted in her becoming a bit of a prankster; nothing harmful and nothing that'll last more than two hours at the most. But she's not above concocting potions in the form of candies or drinks that turn people rainbow colours or turn their tongue serpentine. | ||||||||||
